What it Takes to Be a RedBike Instructor

Everyone remembers their first time pedaling on a stationary bike. And everyone remembers the moment they decided it was time to ride that bike on the podium. For some it takes only a few weeks and for others it may take a little longer, but becoming an instructor is possible! Here’s what it takes to nail your Redbike Instructor Auditions:

1. Confidence: Getting up on stage is nerve-wracking! Try to remember that you’ll also be auditioning alongside others who want to teach just as bad. Showing some self-confidence goes a long way. Rock the bike like you own it and don’t be afraid to show your honest style and personality. Make your ride unique and one of a kind!

2. Practice: Practice makes progress! No one ever made it big without trying. Here’s a fun Redbike fact: most of our instructors started out just like you. From riders to master instructors, it took time and effort but they made it because they worked hard for it. Practice being comfortable talking in front of crowds, practice making fun playlists, practice the choreography in and out of the saddle (your car steering wheel is a good place to start!), and practice being comfortable on the bike.

3. Persistence: Sometimes we need to get knocked down in order to get back up. Persistence is a key trait in becoming a part of the Redbike instructor team. In order to achieve our goals, we need to be willing to fight hard for them. It takes a lot of time and patience to master the skill of instructing a class, but being willing and able to learn and grow is what it’s all about. Be persistent in your efforts and don’t be afraid to ask for help when needed. Which leads us to our last and most important trait…

4. Vulnerability: You are going to be in front of hundreds of people a week. Being vulnerable and honest is the key quality of a good instructor. Showing your true self on the bike and giving 100% of yourself to the class is what counts. Sharing your feelings and emotions with your audience will help you connect with your riders and, ultimately, build a community, which is what Redbike is all about.

Redbike is always looking for top notch instructors to join the team! We will be holding auditions this Saturday, June 3, 12:30pm at our Aventura studio. If you think you have what it takes, email info@redbikestudios.com for more questions. See you on the podium!
