So What's Your Revolution?

New-Year-Rev

Here we go again. It’s a New Year so you better get started on that New Year’s Resolution, right? While some of us stay on track with our goals, most of us fall off the wagon by the time Valentine’s Day comes around. According to Shape Magazine, there are tons of reasons why we can’t stick to our resolutions. Here are just a few: No Plan of Action, Lofty Goals, Lack of Honesty, and Going at it Alone. We get it, New Year’s Resolutions are tough, which is why our Redbike team is here to provide you with the help you need to get 2016 started on the right foot. If you’re ready to begin your New Year’s Revolution read ahead...!

Redbike Studios is more than meets the eye. It’s a spinning studio that provides a 45-minute calorie-crushing workout with a party atmosphere and inspirational energy. But have you taken advantage of the other wellness components? You can keep your nutrition in check with in-house dieticians and an on-site smoothie bar. You can pamper yourself with top of the line bath products. Even more, you can take in some “me” time at the outdoor patio that provides a little nature in the middle of Brickell. As the New Year approaches, our team of experts challenges you to make changes in all components of your life: Fitness, Nutrition, Mindfulness, and Adventure. These are all important areas to focus on to create the most change and the ultimate revolution.

But first, think about the change, or changes, you want to make. Is your Fitness routine slacking? Could you make some dietary changes to increase your energy? Do you need more “me time” to improve your mood? Or could you add some more fun into your life? We recommend trying them all! There are two ways to approach the Revolution:

Option 1 - All-Or-Nothing:

If you’re someone who’s all or nothing like Steph or Albert, we recommend you start making changes in all areas starting from the beginning. In each of the four weeks you will incorporate changes to your fitness routine, nutritional choices, mindful decisions, and adventure thrills. See if that works. If not, choose option 2.

Option 2 - Week-by-Week:

If you get overwhelmed with drastic lifestyle changes, we recommend you take the challenge on a week-by-week basis. Each week you will focus on making changes in just one area of the challenge. Once you’ve tackled the first week, you move into the second week by maintaining the changes you’ve already made, and so on. (For example: Stick to your new Fitness routine and begin making healthier food choices)

Your Revolution starts in one week. Take the next few days to prioritize your goals and envision your outcome. Whether it’s Fitness, Nutrition, or overall Wellness, we have you covered! Our team of instructors and nutritionists are coming up with the perfect plan to help you get your New Year’s Resolution REVOLUTION on it’s way. #RedBikeRevolution

Stay Fit This Holiday Season

img-slider3-albert-blurry

We've already stuffed our faces with turkey and latkes, and the holiday feasting is still not over! Is there a way to enjoy all the holiday deliciousness and still avoid packing on the extra pounds? Who better to ask than Redbike leader and CEO, Albert? He shares his advice on ways to enjoy the holidays without the burden of losing track on your fitness routine.

Q: How can we stay in shape when the holidays force you to be surrounded by endless amounts of "not so great for you" foods?

Albert: The holidays can be a real land mine in terms of disrupting your best exercise and weight-control intentions. Start each day with a game plan, just like a great coach going into a big game.

First, track your food intake and activity level. Doing so makes you aware of the amount of calories in certain foods. Even if you decide to eat higher-calorie options, you will probably eat smaller portions and make other adjustments to stay within your daily caloric goals.

Also, stay hydrated. Your brain can sometimes confuse thirst with hunger. A large glass of water before a meal (and especially before considering seconds) can help lessen the amount of food you consume. Drink six to eight glasses of water per day, and be sure to have two big glasses of water before the big, calorie-rich meals.

Q: Most people take off from work or travel during the holidays. What are some exercises you do off the Redbike saddle?

Albert: Traveling shouldn’t be an excuse to cut working out completely. You can incorporate fitness and training from pretty much anywhere. I personally like doing exercises with my own body weight resistance, such as planks, push ups, pull ups, ab exercises, etc. You can do these type of exercises in a hotel room, on a beach, on a scenic trail…the options are endless.

Q: A Redbike package is a great idea for a holiday gift. What would you tell people who are on the fence about trying Redbike during or after the holiday season?

Albert: A class at Redbike is a 45-minute calorie-crushing workout. It’s a full body routine that incorporates cardio with choreography and an arms routine. So you’re pretty much touching on all the important factors in a short amount of time. In addition, the energy inside the room from the motivating instructors, party inspired music and lights, and fellow Redpack members makes the experience a thrill-ride you won’t want to miss. Getting a few classes for yourself or for a friend during the holidays is the perfect way to stay on top of your fitness game.

Calling All Early Risers!

Hey Early Risers: This one's for you! Our instructor Steph (and master of early morning wake ups) shares her personal tips on how she ensures a good night's rest and how she gets the energy to work out before the sun comes up.

"I have always been an early riser, and now with the 6 and 7 am spinning classes, early has a whole new meaning. Here are 5 things I ALWAYS do to make sure I get enough rest in order to wake up and kick spinning butt!

1. Eat before 8pm

I try my best to eat dinner before 8 pm. Our bodies need time to digest and our muscles (especially our stomach) can't rest easy if they're still processing food at the time we hit our beds. I eat light meals which typically consist of lean proteins, veggies, and a healthy carb (aka sweet potato or quinoa). If I do get hungry before bed I'll have a little fruit and water. It gives my body the notion that it's full.

2. Organize

I don't have a lot of time between wake up and running through the door. I like to organize myself with everything I need for the following day. I pack my clothes, leave my meals and snacks ready, and all the essentials I need for the following day. You better believe that coffee machine is ready too.

3. Warm shower/bath

I read an article once that taking a warm shower or bath before bed helped you fall asleep quicker. Needless to say, it's a part of my nightly routine every day. I like to throw in some L'occitane Aromacologie Relaxing Bath Salts...it really helps me relax, feel clean, and gets me a little sleepy.

4. Tea time and Chill

No Netflix before bed for me. I try to stay away from all electronics at least 30 minutes before I sleep. That means no television, no cell-phone, etc. I'll make a cup of my favorite Yogi Bedtime Tea and read a book. I love reading motivational books because they give me a sense of empowerment and inspiration, plus they help to get me excited for the following day. I'm currently reading The Power by Rhonda Byrne. Her books are amazing!

5. Mindful Meditation

Once I feel like my eyes are giving up on me and ready to close, I take a moment to look back on the day and find three things I'm grateful for. I take an experience, someone I met, or just a feeling I experienced and reflect on those moments. I always feel centered and grounded. I honestly find that going to bed content helps me sleep better, which helps me feel rested, happy, and energized the next morning.

RedBike - Basel Edition

Redbike made it's way to Art Basel 2015 and what a magical evening it was! We fill you in on highlights, favorite instructor moments, and pictures from our amazing night of pop up rides under the stars.

Our bikes made their way to Wynwood with the help of our super strong (and can we say handsome?) instructors. We got set up at the beautiful new outdoor garden known as The Wynwood Yard. Surrounded by the vibrancy of Art Basel, tourists and locals enjoying the nice Sunday weather, and healthy food trucks, the setting could not be more perfect.

Our Redpack showed up and got set up with shoes and complementary headsets provided by Soundoff Miami. "The sound system was so cool!" says Steph. "Everyone riding had their personal headsets. All they could hear was our music and our instruction. All other noise was blocked off. I think it made their experience really fun and interesting. It was hard not to get into the ride...everyone was so in the zone!"

We definitely took spinning to another level. Locals on the street stood in awe as they watched spinning tranform into movement art. "The entire class was able to put on a show for the onlookers who were passing by. Everyone was riding as a unit and the choreography made it look artistic. The class and the energy really vibed well with the feel of Art Basel. We couldn't have asked for a more picture perfect night" says Adam.

And what's an event without friends, family, food, and fun? Albert can describe the night in just one word: INCREDIBLE. New friends joined us for the event, the stormy skies cleared up to allow for a beautiful sunset, amazing and healthy food options provided by Della Bowls, as well as other great food trucks, are one of the few highlights. But riding alongside my Redbike family, and real family, tops it all."
