Redbike Back to School (College Edition)

Going back to school is an exciting chapter. It's a new year, new friends, and new exciting opportunities. Unfortunately when it comes to working out, that tends to be put aside. We asked some of our Redbike Front Desk Rockstars how they're able to balance school and work while also making exercise a priority. Read ahead to see what they say!

1. Where do you currently go to school and what are you majoring in?

Rachel: I'm a first year biology major attending Florida International University aka "FIU". GO PANTHERS!

Chris: I'm also in my first year at Miami Dade College. My major is Civil Engineering.

Lucia: I'm currently in Miami Dade and studying to be a Physical Therapy Assistant.

Natalie: I'm a Junior at Florida Atlantic University. I'm a Bio major with hopes of attending Dental School.

2. What's the best part about going back to school?

Rachel: I like to have a routine. I'm also really fortunate to love what I study and to learn. Meeting new people is also a definite plus when starting a new year at school. I can't wait to see what the next four years of college brings!

Chris: Honestly? The best part of going back to school is convincing my parents to buy me a whole new wardrobe...sorry Mom and Dad!

Lucia: This is the first year that I'm truly focusing on the subject matter that I love and I'm passionate about so that's the best part!

Natalie: Just knowing that I'm getting closer to finishing my education.

3. With work and school, how do you find time to exercise and stay active?

Rachel: It's honestly not so hard to find at least one hour a day to dedicate to working out. We waste so much time on our phones and computers, so instead I eliminate all distractions while I'm studying and that way I can really focus that hour or so on my exercise routine. It also helps that I work at a spin studio! I always try and sneak into class when I'm off hours.

Chris: I manage my time efficiently. I always find an hour in my day to use for a workout, whether it's cardio or weight lifting. I also try to do Redbike classes at least three times a week.

Lucia: The key for me is to wake up a little extra early and get my workout in before starting my busy day of work and school.

Natalie: I do admit that it's sometimes hard to find the time to workout, study, and work all in one day. It's important to realize that finding the time to exercise is just as important as finding time to complete your errands.

4. What are your favorite types of workouts?

Rachel: I love spinning, of course! But I also like pushing myself with resistance and body weight exercises. Squats and planks are a few of my favorites!

Chris: I'm all about high-intensity workouts. Redbike plays a huge role in providing me with the calorie burner, high-intensity, and fun type of exercise I really like.

Lucia: Hands down running and spinning!

Natalie: My favorite workouts are those that require a healthy level of cardio so that I can keep my heart and body in good shape.

5. What can you tell somebody who's trying out Redbike for the first time?

Rachel: Redbike is family, whether it's your first time or you're a longtime regular. When you're at Redbike, you feel like it's your second home. Besides an amazing workout, you'll notice the unique customer service that goes along with it. As co-workers, we're all family and we love being there and we want our riders to feel the same way.

Chris: There are tons of great things I can say, but I'll keep it short. Redbike has a spectacular and unique style and all the instructors are awesome and different. This is the kind of place you'd want to experience your first indoor cycling class.

Lucia: The moment you step inside the studio at Redbike all your stressors will dissapear. It's so worth it!

Natalie: Redbike is a cycling studio that truly enjoys seeing all the riders and hearing about their improvements. I'm always excited to see our regulars come back to use with smiles on their faces :)

Going for the GOLD at the RedBike Summer Games!

Michael Phelps may have just beat a world record at the Olympics, but our riders are off to a winning start at the RedBike Summer Games. We asked some of the Redpack why they feel like winners when they come to class...here's what they had to say!

"Just the fact that we can get through an entire class makes us feel like winners!"

"If I can push through a Redbike class, I can push through anything. I'm so much stronger physically and mentally and that's what winning is about."

"Winners use the 5lb weights! We both push each other during the arm sequence. We like to win as a team!"

"I'm a winner because I finally got my sister to try Redbike and now she's hooked!"

"I feel 10 times lighter when I take classes at Redbike. I feel 20 times lighter when I do a double! I let go of all the baggage and stress from the day and pour my energy into the ride. That's my idea of winning!"

"I always walk in to class with a smile on my face, and I always leave class with an even bigger one! Theme classes are my jam and for those 45 minutes I actually feel like I'm winning at life!"

"I feel like I've already struck gold. When I first came to Redbike I could barely get through an entire class. Now you can catch me doing doubles, and sometimes even triples! I never in a million years imagined I'd be this fit and strong...thank you Redbike!"

"We always take the 7:30 classes during the week because Redbike helps us feel accomplished for the day!"

"Winning is my middle name! I've been coming to Redbike for over a year and I always do back to back classes a few times a week. The rides already make me feel like a winner and my consistency and dedication have helped me win a few Redbike competitions. Now I'm getting this guy to join me! Summer Games Gold Medal...we're coming for you!"

First place is still up for grabs! The rider with the most rides logged in between August 8th and August 21st wins the Gold and receives a grand prize. If you haven't tried Redbike yet, book your bike now and see what winning is all about! www.redbikestudios.com.

Albert's Tricks to Stay Motivated

Our team leader, Albert, gives us the low down on how to stay motivated. Motivation is that mysterious force that helps us eat well, exercise frequently, work hard, and achieve our goals. As simple as it may sound, it's not. Life happens and things get in the way, so Albert shares personal suggestions that can help you stay on top of your fitness game! Read ahead:

1.    Rise to the Occasion! My suggestion is to get up early at least 3 times a week and come to class. I'm by no means an early morning person, but on days when I teach 7 am classes, or wake up and do some morning cardio before heading to the studio, I feel incredible after. The post-workout high will keep you going for hours! An added plus: you don't have to stress out about working out after a long day.

 2.    Buddy Up. You must know by now that exercising with a friend or in a class gives that extra kick. You can even set up a game to help each other stay on track. For instance: My friends and I have a pact. Each one sets up an “I’m lazy jar.” Then whenever someone bails, they have to put $5 in their jar. When it gets up to $20 (four missed workouts), they have to use that money to buy us all smoothies.

 3.    Schedule Reminders: Set up your workout schedule at least a week in advance. Add each workout to your personal calendar and make sure you get daily remainders from Google, or any other device. I get my reminders through my Fitbit. I have a pretty hectic schedule and those reminders are everything.

 4.    Change it up: Doing the same thing over and over bores me. When I teach I like to mix up the choreography and use different playlists to add variety. As a student, I would highly recommend taking different instructors during the week and testing out different rides. Rumba Ride anyone?

5. Be Flexible!: Take a day off. If you’re too busy to work out or simply don’t feel up to it, take a break. Be gentle with yourself. The important thing is to get back on track as soon as you can. Regain your enthusiasm and pedal it out!

On that note...Keep that motivation on track and book your classes for the week ahead at www.redbikestudios.com. See you in the saddle!

2 Years of RedBike! This one is for you RedPack!

RedBike celebrates its second birthday this Sunday, which makes it a perfect time to reflect. A lot can happen in two years. It was two years ago when the Apple Watch first came out, Ebola seemed poised to continue its spread, and Justin Bieber was arrested in Miami. In that time RedBike went from an idea to a concept to a community: a community of riders that sweat, strive, strengthen, and inspire one another. We are blessed to have such an incredible RedPack, this anniversary is for you! Rather than just telling you, check out this short video for some 2-year anniversary musings from our RedPack!

The Ultimate Summer '16 Playlist

With summer kicking into high-gear, we asked Master Instructor, and "Wannabe DJ", Stephanie to put together the Ultimate Summer Playlist. Steph gives us the rundown on the must have tracks to jam to this summer and how she would use each song for class. Take a look, tune in, and enjoy!

1. "Alarm"- Anne Marie

Early mornings got you feeling down? Jam out to this song first thing in the morning, or even make it your personal "Alarm" (get it?) This track has fiery beats that are sure to wake you up and make you start loving the morning time. I'd use this song as my Intro/Warm-Up. It has the perfect beat to be out of the saddle and get the body moving with some arm presses.

2. "Work"- Rihanna

I'm not sure when I'll get sick of this song. I hope NEVER! I jam out to "Work" when I shower, when I cook, when I clean, when I work out (duh), basically all the time. Can't understand some of the lyrics? Doesnt matter! The sexy beats are sure to bring out your best self and put you to work in some type of way. This song is perfect for some quick jogs out of the saddle with my favorite move: tap backs!

3. "One Dance"- Drake

Again, I'm not sure I'll ever get tired of this song. Summer is made for dancing and this is the perfect track to play if you're dancing in your car alone, with your partner, or on the bike in class. I'd use this song for a slow and heavy climb. With more resistance comes more sweat, and sweat always makes me feel sexiest. Add a booty push back for the cherry on top.

4. "Afroki"- Steve Aoki

What do you get when you combine Steve Aoki and Afrojack? An array of heavy, quick, and off the chart beats that are sure to provide you with the ultimate adrenaline rush. This song also has pretty inspirational lyrics if you listen closely. I love playing this song for sprints. I use it to remind my class not to be afraid to let everything go and start feeling good about themselves. It's so badass.

5. "This Is What You Came For"- Calvin Harris ft. Rihanna

I fell in love with this song the second it came out. You can't go wrong with Calvin and Rihanna. It's basically like hitting the jackpot. This song is perfect to play when you're with a group of friends at the beach, prepping for a fun night out, or on a road trip. I love using this song for some combination moves out of the saddle.

6. "Work From Home"- Fifth Harmony

It's pretty evident that the theme for this summer is putting in work. This song inspires you to put in work in order to get the results you want to see. Whether it's at your job, in a relationship, or in a class. The fun and quicker beats are great for some in and out of saddle jumps.

7. "Tears"- Clean Bandit

Summer is about letting loose, being free, and finding your best self. In order for that to happen we must let go of all the baggage we don't need, right? This song is a perfect way to bring out the personal stuff we need to let go of and give it a big "F YOU". The beat is also pretty fire. I love using this song for a faster climb. If you can get over a climb with heavy resistance you can get over anything.

8. "Can't Stop The Feeling"- Justin Timberlake

Justin is BACK!! Enough said. Press play on this track and there is no stopping those good vibes. I found an extended version of this track, which is perfect for the arm sequence.

9. "The Ocean"- Mike Perry

This song can help take your mind to so many different places. Plus, the track name itself reminds me of being at the beach and when I'm at the beach nothing else really matters. This is a perfect summer track to play when you want to let your mind escape from the crazy world around you. An obvious choice for the quiet song.

10. "Summertime Sadness"- Lana Del Rey ft Cedric Gervais

Major #TBT but this track is a summer must have. Listen to it and you'll see why. I love ending my class with this track. I make my class give me the last few pushes they have left. Although I'm sure they are looking forward to reaching that finish line, I'm the one that gets sad class is coming to an end.

11. "Wild Things"- Alessia Clara

Because after all, summer is about discovery and spontaneity. Bring out your inner wild child and figure out ways to make yourself happy. As I end my class with this song, my hope is that everyone feels a bit more inspired and happy.

RedPack Dads! Happy Father's Day!

We asked our instructor team to share what they loved most about their dads. Here's what they had to say!

America: As a little girl, I loved hugging on my daddy; as a teenager and college student I always asked him for something and even now as an adult, guess what… I am still asking my dad for something; whether I am asking him for a hug, advice, money, whatever it is, he is the first one to answer my call and help me with anything that I need. He truly is an inspiration to me and my family and has shown me how to stay positive in anything that we are going through in life. Whenever I talk to him about being stressed out, he is able to talk to me, calm me down and remind me to stay positive and that everything will be okay!

Mari: My dad has been my number one fan of all things sports and fitness related since I was a little girl. He was the one who signed me up and got me on my path to a healthy and active lifestyle. From participating in gymnastics, basketball, volleyball, tap, jazz, track, softball, and cheerleading, my dad has sat on the sidelines and always cheered me on. I can't thank him enough for his support and initiative to get me on this path of being fit. He has model a life of physical wellness and I am forever grateful...Dad, I love you!!!

Adam: My Dad is unlike any I've ever met. As most people know, my Dad has always been like one of my best friends more so than a parent. We party together, attend sporting events and occasionally hit the tennis courts. Although he moved to Atlanta 3 years ago, he's still the first person I speak to every morning at 7:15 am. After every conversation, I'm reminded to have fun and enjoy my day. My Dad goes above and beyond to make sure that his children are happy and I hope that never changes. I'm very excited to visit Atlanta this weekend to spend Father's Day with my Pops!

Steph: My dad is the best man I know. Since I was little, he has always been by my side supporting me in all of my endeavors. I wouldn't be where I am today if it weren't for him. He took me to all of my after school sporting events and dance practices, he was there on my first and last day of college, he calls me to give me real world advice all the time, but most importantly he has shown be unconditional love and support and encourages me to follow my passion and be happy. Thanks for being the best dad there is! Love you Papi!

Albert: My dad is the prime example of the kind of man I strive to be. He's an amazing father, husband, business man, and friend. He has taught me everything I know today and without him I wouldn't be where I am. I wake up everyday wanting to make him proud, just as he's made me proud my entire life. Happy Father's Day Dad!

From our RedBike family to yours, we wish all the dads a very Happy Father's Day!
