Lissette and Ashley: The Inspiring Mother-Daughter Duo

Lissette and Ashley first walked into Redbike unsure what to expect. Finding a place to get fit and have fun was important, but finding the type of environment that made Ashley feel comfortable was key. Our rockstar mom shares how Redbike has brought her and Ashley closer together and what keeps them coming back!

Ashley is a very special young lady. As her mother I am biased; however, her qualities and abilities prove what I just stated. She has always been diligent and determined with her schoolwork, her artwork, and her beautiful piano playing. She strives to succeed regardless of her quiet demeanor. She is truly an inspiration for me, and being her mother is a privilege.

Our journey to try and become more physically fit, and have fun as well, is what led us to Redbike. We always enjoyed Spinning, but we had not been able to find a gym that offered energetic, and high quality instructors. I knew we had found the right place with Redbike when I looked at Ashley, and I saw a huge smile on her face. Ashley looks forward to the Spinning classes at Redbike. Even though she's been in school all day, has gone to therapy, and has practiced piano for an hour, she always says "yes" when I ask her if she wants to go Spinning.

In spite of Ashley's difficulties expressing how she feels while she's Spinning, her non-verbal cues speak "volumes." As her mother, I know when she's happy and excited, and she definitely portrays those feelings at Redbike. As we're riding, she gets excited and animated when they play her favorite "Pitbull" or "Daddy Yankee" song. Her smile says it all!!!

I feel very fortunate that I am able to share these special moments with Ashley. We are able to spend time together participating in something we both love to do. I am very thankful that we found Redbike because Ashley and I are improving our overall health while having fun at the same time!

Make sure to give your mom or child the special gift of Redbike on this Mother's Day. We'll be offering a 2 for 1 special. Book your class at: www.redbikestudios.com

15 Questions with Albert and Adam

We're about to get real personal with our two leading men of Redbike. Albert and Adam open up about what they can't leave home without, where they enjoy spending their off time in Miami, what they love about teaching, and more!

1. How old, or young, did you just turn?
Albert: 31 but i don't look a day over 30

Adam: 28 years young

2. What's your favorite color?
Albert: My fave color in Green, as a kid my dream was to live in an all green house....sorry it's not Red

Adam
: Black

3. What's the last thing you ate?
Albert: I splurged on two chocolate chip cookie dough Quest bars...but hey at least I didn't eat a whole batch of real cookie dough!

Adam: Grilled Chicken Wings and Sweet Potato Fries

4. Who's your favorite music artist?
Albert: Alt-j and Cold war kids. I also dig nature sounds soundtracks

Adam: Armin van Buuren

5. Favorite place you've traveled
Albert: Luang Prabang in Laos. It's a sleepy village in the middle of the rainforest with incredible scenery, rice paddies, and incredibly nice locals. I also ate the spiciest laos pepper on a dare and I cried like a baby for almost an hour

Adam: Israel. I went on a birthright trip for two weeks and it amazed me how much history and how many different places could be within one country.

6. Something you never leave home without
Albert: I think the question needs to be: What do I usually forget at home?

Adam: Chapstick

7. What's your favorite feature?
Albert: My eyes and lack of unibrow

Adam
:Is my beard a feature or a growth? Let's go with my smile :)

8. Who's your Celebrity crush
Albert: I don't really have a celebrity crush, but lets go with Nina Agdal who I had the pleasure of training & co-teaching a redbike class with her at model beach volleyball

Adam:Emily Ratajkowski. Hey Albert: When can I co-teach with her?

9. Favorite food(s)
Albert: Indian & Thai....although with my accommodating palate, I can eat pretty much any item on any menu in any restaurant. I've definitely eaten some wack food in China and other parts of Asia on my travels

Adam
: Grandma's Sweet and Sour Meatballs, salty snacks, all Italian food, ice cream, anything chocolate and a good ribeye.

10. If you had a theme song what would it be?
Albert: "Work" by Rihanna and "Way up I feel blessed" by Drake. Growing up my dad always told me that loving what you do for a living is a myth. Cynical as that sounds, it does happen to be true for most people. Hence, the fact that I truly love what I do for a living is a blessing. I'm doing Redbike stuff pretty much from when I open my eyes until I close them, and I love every minute of it.

Adam: Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch - Good Vibrations

11. What's your favorite place in Miami?
Albert: I really like The Edition Hotel. Matador Room is one of my favorite restaurants right now and The Basement Lounge is a great spot to check out.

Adam: Such a broad question. My favorite restaurant is Roasters N' Toasters, my favorite bar/club is Story, to relax I enjoy walking around Brickell and Downtown and my favorite place to take out-of-towners is Area 31 Happy Hour.

12. Describe your teaching style in three words
Albert: Energizing, Inspiring, Exhilarating

Adam: Energetic, positive and fun.

13. Best piece of advice somebody gave you
Albert: "The only way to succeed in life is to have other people want you to succeed." (also from my dad) It means essentially that as long as you are ethical and treat people the right way then your success will never rub anyone the wrong way.

Adam:You can't be too hard on yourself or others because everything happens for a reason.

14. Politics or Reality TV?
Albert: Politics in a landslide...although Naked and Afraid and Shark Tank are some favorites

Adam:Reality TV (I'm a longtime member of The Bachelor/Bachelorette Nation)

15. What's your favorite part about being a Redbike instructor?
Albert:Being able to connect with and hopefully inspire so many redpack members. Its been incredible to see redbike grow over the past 21 months, and being able to share it with so many clients who have become friends is amazing

Adam
: I've taught hundreds of classes over the past year and not one time did it ever feel like "work". I look forward to each and every class and I especially enjoy introducing people to new music (I make a new playlist for every class). I've made great connections and gained close friends in just this last year and I can't wait for another incredible year to come!

RedPack Member Spotlight: Linda Yun

Linda decided to give Redbike a try when one of her friends convinced (and basically dragged) her to try a class. After her first one, she was hooked! But hooked is an understatement. Linda is our rockstar rider who takes back to back classes, four times a week! If that wasn't enough, she's won two in-house competitions with a Redbike record of 28 classes in less than three weeks. How does she do it? Why does she do it? Read ahead!

Tell us what brought you to Redbike for the first time.

A friend and coworker told me about Redbike and its classes, instructors and location when she checked it out for the first time. I was terrified and so hesitant to try Redbike because I had never done spinning before, but she convinced me to give it a try and I was hooked on my first day.

What type of exercise or workouts were you partaking in before becoming an avid RedBike Rider?

I ran anywhere between 3 to 8 miles a day (and still do – 2 miles) along with working out with weights for strength, plus doing additional cardio on the elliptical

You do back to back classes, 4 times a week! Tell us how and why you do it!?

I do back to back classes because I became addicted to spinning and one class doesn’t feel like it’s enough for me. Plus, each instructor has his/her own routine and personality that they bring to class.

What part of class do you look forward to the most?

I honestly can’t say which part I look forward to the most because I enjoy every aspect of the class.

On days when you're just not into it, what gives you the motivation and drive to push yourself and keep riding?

Believe me when I say that I’ve had many days when I was just not into it, but I still push myself to come because I know in the back of my mind I will end up feeling better, it’s also a stress reliever and the motivation we get from the instructor that we can do it and not to give up is a big part of the workout.

Do you plan on winning all of our in house competitions?? What can you tell someone who's never been to RedBike before?

I hope to win all the in-house competitions. It’s the competitive side of me that makes me push myself harder. Redbike is not just a spin class. You actually have fun with great instructors who motivate you to the end. The classes can be hard where you will need to push yourself to your limit and the end result is worth it. As an avid person who loves to work out, I see my body transforming to what I’ve been striving for, whereas, with the workout I did prior to joining Redbike, I was not getting the results I wanted.

Adam's Guide to Ultra!

Ultra Music Festival is touching down in Miami once again. As hundreds of world-renowned DJ's gather together for the three-day extravaganza, instructor Adam gives us the low down on why it's his favorite event of all time, which shows are not to miss, what DJ's he likes best, and how Ultra inspires his teaching style and music selections. Read ahead! :

1. What makes Ultra your favorite time of the year in Miami?

There is a different buzz, a heightened sense of electricity all around Miami during Miami Music Week and specifically Ultra weekend. People travel here from around the world to be a part of this week. Ultra Music Festival is widely known as one of the top music festivals in the world, and to have it in my backyard (literally) is amazing.

2. Give us the 411 on how to get the most out of Ultra weekend?

The key to Ultra weekend is to remember it's a marathon, not a sprint. You want to make sure you've got a plan of which artists you want to see, what time they play and at what stage. Staying organized makes everything easier which is why I recommend downloading the Ultra 2016 app so that you have all that information right at your fingertips. I've gone to Ultra all three days a few times, and I've learned that in order to make it all the way to those grand finale fireworks you must hydrate, wear some comfy shoes and make sure to get plenty of rest.

3. What are some must see shows? Any personal favorite DJ's?

There are many different genres of Electronic Dance Music. Every stage at Ultra usually highlights a specific genre depending on the day. With that being said my top 3 suggestions for this year (in no particular order) are Martin Garrix at Mainstage on Friday, Carl Cox at the Carl Cox and Friends stage also on Friday and then finish the weekend with a huge treat of Deadmau5, Eric Prydz and Armin van Buuren back-to-back-to-back at A State of Trance stage Sunday night. Some of my favorite DJs to see at a festival are Armin van Buuren, Martin Garrix, Eric Prydz, Tiesto, Afrojack and Hardwell.

4. How does Ultra inspire your style of teaching at Redbike?

I don't think this comes as a surprise to the RedPack that I love playing a lot of upbeat and banging songs that explode through the speakers, especially during my huge sprints. I always remind students to lose themselves for 45 minutes and just be happy about the hard work they are putting in and to remember to have fun and dance around sometimes. The added bonus are the colored strobe lights and I try my best to put on a show for everyone to make the spinning experience more like a party or a festival than a workout.

5. What Ultra inspired songs are currently playing on your Spotify?

Eric Prydz- The Matrix
Martin Garrix- Now That I've Found You
Hardwell- Run Wild
Afrojack- Hollywood
Ben Gold- I'm in A State of Trance (ASOT 750 Anthem)

If you can't make it to Ultra Music Festival, make sure to check out a class with Adam by booking a class today. He'll be sure to bring some Ultra inspiration back to Redbike!

RedBike Success Story: Claire's Journey

Claire stumbled upon Redbike because of proximity and convenience. What she didn't know was that classes would transform her life in ways she never imagined possible. From prepping for marathons, to helping her fit into a designer dress she always dreamed about, Claire shares her experience and Redbike success journey:

Redbike is a great way to get fit because it's a tough workout that is really fun! I first found out about Redbike because I lived near the Brickell studio. I decided to give it a try because I love staying active. Running has always been my main workout, but I thought that Redbike spinning might be a good way to cross-train and build strength on my non-running days. I was right!

Redbike’s workouts are great for runners because they include 45 minutes of cardio while also working all the major muscle groups. Pedaling with heavy resistance really helped build up my calves and quads. The classes also include an arm workout, so my shoulders and biceps are looking better than ever! I’ve run long-distance races before, and am currently training for another half marathon. Thanks to Redbike, I’m sure this will be my fittest race yet.

Although I joined because I wanted to get stronger, I have lost weight since becoming a member of the Red Pack. I recently bought a new dress from one of my favorite designers in a size I hadn’t been able to wear since college. It’s amazing to see so much progress when the workouts feel more like a party. The instructors are friendly and encouraging, the playlists are upbeat and creative, and the studio’s club lights complete the experience. I would recommend Redbike to anyone who is looking for a fun way to achieve his or her fitness goals. Give it a try, you’ll be glad you did!

A RedBike Farewell to Instructor Gabi Tudin

From rider to rockstar instructor, Gabi shares why she became an instructor, her favorite moments at Redbike, what motivates her, and why she's making the journey over to the Big Apple.

1) Why are you moving to NYC and what are you most excited about?

I am moving for an exciting new job! I'm most excited to explore the city and eat all the amazing food, and hopefully find a place half as good as Redbike to teach spin!

2) What first brought you to Redbike?

The day I arrived in Miami, finding the right spin studio was first on my to-do list. What kept me coming back was the Redbike experience--the amazing instructors, keeping the workout fun and challenging, and the wonderful sense of community there.

3) What made you want to become an instructor?

I've always loved spin and was just itching to share that passion I feel on the bike with others. I've gotten to be creative making playlists and choreography, while seeing my students push themselves and grow!

4) What are some of your favorite moments from teaching at Redbike?

Co-teaching the Beyonce vs Rihanna class with Steph was so much fun. We worked hard to make the best playlist and had an amazing time with everyone in the class!

5) What are your daily motivation/inspirational mantras?

If it doesn't challenge you, it doesn't change you.

6) You'll come back to Miami as a guest instructor, right?

YES PLEASE!!

We'll miss you Gabi! Come check out one last class with Gabi this Saturday at 9:30 am. Spots are filling up so book your bike online at www.redbikestudios.com

Riding to the Altar - RedBike Couples

Two special Redbike couples have been getting wedding ready at Redbike! Take a look at their journeys: from the moment they first hopped on the saddle, why they enjoy riding together, ways they motivate each other, and how riding at Redbike has prepared them to tie the knot.

Leslie and Adam:

We first came to Redbike over a year ago when it opened and we have been coming back ever since! We love the high energy and great music selection. Redbike offers extremely convenient class times that fit in perfectly with our work schedules. Although we're not morning people, the 7am class is a great way to jumpstart our day!  We like going to Redbike together because it keeps us accountable and ensures that one of us can't slack off (Adam) when the other one (Leslie) pops out of bed in the morning. Spinning has been a really fun and effective way to stay in shape and keep us active while getting ready for our wedding this weekend. Thanks RedBike!

Shawn and Andrea:

We started coming to Redbike in the middle of December.  We enjoyed riding our bikes when we lived in Orlando, but when we moved into Downtown Miami there were not as many bike-friendly places to go, so we decided to try spinning instead.  We are also getting ready for our wedding in September, so we have extra motivation to exercise. After our first class, what made us return was the feeling of accomplishment we got once we were done.  It was hard, but also instantly rewarding to see the smiles from the instructors and the rest of the Redbike pack we rode with.  The awesome playlists of music, judgement-free atmosphere, and energizing motivation from all of the instructors throughout the class make you push to a new level each and every class.

We enjoy riding together because we push each other to be better, but also help pick each other up if one of us is struggling through a workout.  We always look to each other and smile after all of the sprints.  There is also a lot of fist bumping going on throughout our rides. Even in the 3 short months we have been going to Redbike we are already seeing changes in how we look and feel better than we have in a long time.  The spinning classes along with nutritional help from Monika at Feed Me Health are keeping us super active and eating properly to be wedding photo ready and feel great on our special day.

Congratulations to Leslie and Adam who #ofischaly said "I Do" on February 13, 2016. Stay tuned for Shawn and Andrea's journey towards the altar!
